Women's Volleyball Drops Four Set Decision To Albertus Magus

Sardella paces Green and Gold with team-best 14 kills 

West Haven, CT: The Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College this evening in non-conference action from the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  With the match knotted at one set apiece, Albertus Magnus would take the next two sets to collect a 3-1 triumph over Fitchburg State as the Green and Gold were led by sophomore Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA), who netted a team best 14 kills, two service aces and 16 digs, while senior Emily Gelinas (Westfield, MA) finished with a team best 24 assist to go along with one service ace, one solo block and one blocking assist. Defensively, freshman Jessica Greco (Southington, CT) led the way, finishing with 18 digs and two service aces.

- For the Falcons of Albertus Magnus, sophomore Majo Pelaez (Armenia, Columbia) registered a match best 19 kills, 24 digs and three service aces, while sophomore setter Shalese Gordon (Bridgeport, CT) added 36 assists, one kill, two service aces, ten digs and one blocking assist. Senior Amanda Zdru (Stratford, CT) paced the host defensively with 36 digs, two assists and one service ace.

-  This evening's contest marked the second meeting between Fitchburg State and Albertus Magnus on the volleyball court with the Falcons 1-1 all-time when taking on the Falcons of Albertus Magnus
