Albertus Magnus College Assistant Director of Athletics/Sports Information Director Kristen DeCarli was voted the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Sports Information Director of the Year. The announcement was made by GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh in advance of the 2012 GNAC Professional Development Seminar on August 7 and 8 in Boston, Massachusetts. DeCarli will accept her award on the final day of the seminar.
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2011-12 school year. Twenty-two student-athletes from Albertus Magnus College were among the 618 members of the Academic Team from 14 institutions in the conference.
A volleyball and softball two-sport athlete, Candice Giordano Damico graduated from Albertus Magnus in 2003 as one of the finest softball pitchers in the history of the program. As a freshman, she finished second in the nation with 9.7 strikeouts per game en route to being named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team for her efforts.
The Albertus Magnus Department of Athletics had a very successful 2011-12 year, producing two GNAC Regular-Season Championship teams, one GNAC Tournament Championship team, two All-Americans and 33 All-Conference Team selections.

Freshman Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus softball team has been named to the GNAC All-Conference Third Team as announced by the league on Sunday night. Maio led the Falcons with a .348 batting average during the regular season in 38 games played.

Albertus Magnus College will celebrate the birthday of its mascot, Frankie the Falcon, in honor of Student-Athlete Appreciation Day on April 4. Student-Athlete Appreciation Day is honored annually on April 6 but with the day falling on Good Friday, Frankie’s birthday will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4 at noon in the DeDominicis Dining Hall.
