Jessica Coughlin and Salah Oumorou Named Albertus Magnus Student-Athletes of the Week

New Haven, Conn. – Freshman Jessica Coughlin (Durham, Conn.) of the women's tennis team and freshman Salah Oumorou (West Haven, Conn.) of the men's soccer team have been named as the Albertus Magnus College Student-Athletes of Week. Initiated in September, 2017, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.

Coughlin won both her singles matches at No. 2 as well as posted a 1-1 record at No. 2 doubles over a 1-1 week for the Falcons. Coughlin forced a three-set thriller in the 7-2 setback against Suffolk on Saturday. The rookie dropped the first set, 6-2, but managed to secure the set win with back-to-back victories, 7-5 and 10-4. On Sunday, Coughlin went 2-0 overall following a pair of shutout wins against New Rochelle in No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Oumorou, who was also named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Rookie of the Week, enjoyed another stellar game as the rookie recorded his third hat trick of the season and tallied a career-high eight points in the 4-0 win over Anna Maria on Saturday afternoon. The freshman scored three of his four goals within a five minute span in the second half. Prior to the win over the AMCATS, he also recorded a team-high four shots in the loss to Mount Ida.

The men's soccer returns to the field this week against Emmanuel (Mass.) and Lasell. The women's tennis team prepares for three matches in the week ahead as the Falcons take on Saint Joseph's (Conn.), John Jay and Lesley.
