Courtney Cacace and Matt Warren Named Albertus Magnus College Student-Athletes of the Week

New Haven, Conn. - Sophomores Courtney Cacace (Brookfield, Conn.) of the women's lacrosse team and Matt Warren (Wolcott, Conn.) of the baseball team have been named as the Albertus Magnus College Student-Athletes of the Week. Initiated in September, 2017, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.

Cacace scored eight goals with two assists for 10 points to go with five ground balls in a 1-2 week for the Falcons. She tied her season-best eight points, behind six goals and two assists, in the 16-10 win over Mitchell. The sophomore attack also finished out the week 2-of-5 in free position shots and two caused turnovers.

Warren, who was also named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, slashed a .545/.538/1.273 in a 2-1 week for the Falcons, going 6-for-11 with double, two triples, a home run, seven runs scored, and 11 RBI. In the 16-0 victory against Rivier on Saturday, he went 3-of-4 with a season-best three runs, a triple, a home run, and a career-best six RBI.

The baseball team returns to action this week with against Suffolk (4/18), Anna Maria (DH-4/21) and Norwich (DH-4/22). In the week ahead, the women's lacrosse team hosts Johnson & Wales on Tuesday before hitting the road on Saturday to face Norwich.
