NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After leading their teams with impressive individual performances last week, Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) of women's soccer and Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.) of men's golf were named the Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.
Andrews contributed to both goals in Albertus' 2-0 shutout victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday, Sept. 17. The graduate midfielder first netted the game-winner in the 37th minute off an assist from Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.). She then found Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) for an insurance goal in the 64th minute. With a goal and an assist, Andrews climbed to second on the program's all-time leaderboard with 78 career points. She is also tied for second all-time with 31 career goals and 16 assists.
Albertus women's soccer next returns home to challenge the Lasers of Lasell University in a key GNAC clash on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The opening kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Celentano Field.
Kristofak took home medalist honors at the Saints Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 14, shooting a four-over 76 to top the 20-person field for his first career win. The sophomore linksman has carded a 76 in both rounds he's played this season, which is tied for his career-low score. With Kristofak leading the way, Albertus claimed the top team prize at the event with a combined score of 313 (+25), the program's second win in two events in 2022.
The Falcons are back on the course on Thursday, Sept. 22, to participate in the Brett Williamson Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at the Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, Mass. The event is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
