NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In recognition of their outstanding performances last week, Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.) of the men's golf team and Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) of the field hockey team were awarded Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week honors.
Kristofak took part in a pair of events this past week, placing in a tie for 19th at the Brett Williamson Invitational and second at AMC's home match. The sophomore first carded a one-day score of 81 (+10) at the Brett Williamson Invite to finish inside the top 20. He then had a career day at Albertus' home match, tallying a career-low round of 73 (+3) at the Falcons' home course, the New Haven Country Club. Kristofak's impressive performance helped spark AMC to a program-record team score of 303 (+23) to win the three-team event.
The men's golf team hits the course again on Wednesday, Oct. 5, when it hosts Dean College and Purchase State for a tri-match at the New Haven Country Club. The first group is set to tee off at 12 p.m.
Montague continued her stellar start to the 2022 campaign this past week, tallying 48 saves and a .706 save percentage across three contests. The junior from Englishtown, N.J., tallied 13 saves and 10 saves against Mount Holyoke College and Manhattanville College on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. Montague capped off the busy week with a season-high 25 stops against Simmons University, the highest-scoring team in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). For the season, Montague paces the league with 114 saves.
The field hockey team next welcomes the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on Wednesday, Oct. 5, for a home bout. The opening face-off is set for 3:30 p.m. on Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn.
