NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After leading their teams with impressive individual performances last week, women's lacrosse midfielder Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) and men's lacrosse attackman Matthew Hutchings (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) were named the Albertus Magnus College Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.
Barrett recorded an impressive showing for the Falcons last week as the junior midfielder led the team with 10 points behind five goals and five assists. The Northford, Conn. native recorded two two-goal performances against Colby-Sawyer College and Maritime (N.Y.). She also posted two games with two assists against Regis (Mass.) and Maritime (N.Y.). Barrett closed out the week, tallying four draw controls, four caused turnovers, and 13 ground balls.
The women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, March 25, with a GNAC home game against Norwich University at 1 PM at Celentano Field.
Hutchings earned his second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week accolade after finishing as the Falcons' second-leading scorer last week, pouring in 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. He started the week with a six-goal, four-assist performance in AMC's 26-1 win versus Mitchell College. He followed up by scoring five goals, an assist, and six ground balls in Albertus' 13-10 road triumph over Anna Maria on Saturday.
The men's lacrosse team resumes GNAC play on Saturday, March 25, on the road against Rivier. The face-off between the Falcons and Raiders is set for 1 PM.
