NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After an appearance in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals, the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team looks to build on that success as it released its 17-game schedule for the 2023 season.
The Falcons finished 9-6-4 overall and 6-4-3 in the GNAC.
Albertus opens up its season with back-to-back out-of-conference home games, starting with SUNY Purchase on September 1, followed by a match against City College of New York (CCNY) Beavers the next day at noon at Celentano Field. It will be a rematch of last year's matchup where the Falcons and Beavers played to a 3-3 draw.
The Falcons kick off GNAC play on the road against the University of Saint Joseph on September 5, before traveling up to Massachusetts to take on Regis on September 9.
In a rematch of the GNAC quarterfinals - a 2-1 Falcons win - Emmanuel becomes the first conference team to come to Celentano on September 12, followed by Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, September 16.
One of the newest members to the GNAC, Mitchell will host the Falcons on September 20 at 4 p.m. in a rematch of the first game of 2022 in which the Falcons won, 2-0.
Albertus will host Rivier and Norwich on September 23 and 26, respectively. The Falcons defeated both teams last season by a combined score of 8-1.
After a road game against Anna Maria to close out the month on September 30, the Falcons get a shot at redemption on October 4 at Lasell, who they met in the 2022 GNAC Semifinals.
Dean makes its way to New Haven on October 7 in the first of two straight home games. Simmons will play on the backend of the homestand on October 10. The Falcons swept both teams, 1-0 in 2022.
After a game at Saint Joseph's (Me.) on October 14, the Falcons wrap up their home schedule with an October 18 game under the lights against Elms.
The 2023 regular season will conclude with road games at GNAC newcomer New England College on October 21 and defending GNAC champions Johnson & Wales on October 24.
