Washington, Bonilla Named Falcon Spotlight Athletes Of The Week

Justice Washington (Hamden, Conn.) and Antonio Bonilla (Tenafly, N.J.)  of the Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team were both named Falcon Spotlight Athletes of the Week. The pair have gotten the Falcons off to a 4-0 start, which is the best start through four games since the 2015-16 season.

Washington has been on a tear to kick off the season, averaging a double-double, scoring 17.5 points per game and a conference-leading 13.3 rebounds per game. He has three double-doubles on the season, most notably scoring a career-high 28 points while grabbing 17 rebounds in a 107-83 win over Lehman on November 18. He had 12 offensive rebounds in the game.

Washington also had 16 points and 14 rebounds in the opening 75-72 win over Babson on November 11  and 14 points and 13 rebounds against Montclair State in an 86-83 double-overtime win. He is shooting 64.6% (31-48) from the field which is third in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and named GNAC Player of the Week during the second week of the season. 

Bonilla is coming off of a hot-shooting game against Lehman. He went 9-for-20 from three (45%) and scored a season-high 34 points. He has hit multiple threes in every game so far this season, including three against both Hartford and Montclair State.

Bonilla leads the GNAC in three-pointers made on the season with 17 and is shooting 39.7% from deep while averaging 17.3 points per game, a career-high.
