Albertus Magnus has named Brendan Faherty as its new Sports Information Director for the 2023-24 academic year.

Faherty, who began his tenure on July 10, 2023, will oversee the 17 varsity sports for the Falcons.

Prior to Albertus Magnus, Faherty held the same position at Division II Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut for the last four seasons and the previous six as its Assistant Sports Information Director.

While at Post, Faherty was responsible for the promotion of the 22 athletic programs including the launch of the school's Division II Football program that was announced in December 2020 and played its first season beginning in September 2022.

He was the main point of contact for ten Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships during his time at Post, including two Men's Golf Championships, two Men's Soccer Championships, two Women's Soccer Championships, two Baseball Championships, and one Men's Lacrosse and Women's Lacrosse Championship. He was responsible for gameday programs, keeping track of game statistics and media liaison.

He is also a member of CoSIDA and was a D2SIDA East Region women's basketball voter.

Faherty was also in charge of the Eagles' social media platforms, including the launch of its FaceBook page. As of the end of the Spring 2023 season, the Eagles had both the most Instagram and Twitter followers of every team in the CACC.

Before Post, Faherty worked in the sports department at The Hartford Courant, where he was a copy editor, writer and page designer. While there the sports copy desk staff won the Associated Press Triple Crown Award where they were the Top 10 Daily Section, Top 10 Sunday Section and Top 10 Special Section for publications with 100,000-250,000 readers.

He also spent time as lead copy editor at The Sports Department Magazine, a local sports publication in Connecticut.

Faherty is a 2005 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Political Science.
