Ivo Wesseling Named Director of Sports Performance & Athletic Training

Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis has announced the hiring of Ivo Wesseling as the Director of Sports Performance and Athletic Training at Albertus Magnus College.

"Ivo is a welcomed addition to the program," said Abromaitis. "We are fortunate to have a former college athlete with years of experience as a collegiate athletic trainer join the Falcon team."

Wesseling comes to Albertus after previously working at Advanced Physical Therapy overseeing their sports medicine program and athletic trainers.

After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Central Connecticut State University in 2003 he worked as a graduate assistant at Sacred Heart University until 2005.

After receiving his Master’s he went to work for Advanced Physical Therapy where he worked alongside physical therapists and was the Head Athletic Trainer at Wolcott High School.

In 2008, Wesseling made the move back to collegiate athletics, becoming an assistant athletic trainer at Trinity College. There he was directly responsible for the Men’sSoccer, Men’s Ice Hockey, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Squash, and Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams.

He later served as the Director of Sports Medicine at the University of New Haven.
