Falcons Drop Double Header to Norwich 7-4, 16-7

Northfield, VT - The Albertus Magnus College Falcons dropped both games of the GNAC Double Header to host Norwich University on Saturday.  The Falcons left 24 runners on base over the course of the afternoon squandering several scoring opportunities.  Game One featured a sophomore righty Cullen Burnell (Litchfield, CT) pitching all six innings giving up sevens runs, six earned while striking out seven.  In the top of the seventh inning, Albertus staged a comeback loading the bases with one out.  Pinch hitter Jim Stanley (North Haven, CT) drove a hard line drive directly at the left fielder for the second out.  Senior Cameron Giordano (Hamden, CT), who already had a pinch hit in the game, hit a hard groundball to the shortstop who made a fine play to end the game, 7-4.  Game Two saw the Falcons starting pitching falter as Norwich collected 17 hits and scoring 16 runs, 12 of which were earned.  Albertus had 12 hits of their own but struggled to string them together stranding several base runners.  Seniors Peter Rogan (Middletown, CT) and Cameron Giordano (Hamden, CT) chipped in two hits a piece for the Falcons.  Albertus drops to 8-16, 4-4 GNAC and will travel to Providence, RI to take on host and GNAC opponent Johnson and Wales University on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
