Falcons Drop Double Header to Suffolk

West Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Baseball Program dropped both games of a Double Header with GNAC opponent Suffolk University on Tuesday afternoon.  The Falcons had an apparent 2 run homerun called back in the first inning only to score two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.  The Falcons faltered defensively throughout the day resulting in several unearned runs in both games.  The Falcons finish the season 8-27, 4-10 GNAC missing the GNAC playoffs for the first time in 6 years.  The Falcons lose five seniors to graduation including Erik Suraci (West Haven, CT) who graduated with 123 hits over his career and Peter Rogan (Middletown, CT) who amassed 75 hits over two seasons.  The Falcons will graduate almost 50 innings on the mound this season and lose over 200 career hits in the lineup to graduation.  "This season was a very trying one for the program.  The strength of schedule combined with a rash of injuries lead to our end results.  We knew in the beginning of our season that defense was to be our achilles heal and it turned out to be just that for us.  I am excited for next season and feel that combined with a very strong recruiting class and others returing from injury should give us the opportunity to compete in the top of the GNAC next season," stated Coach Leighton.
