Dornfried, Pellegrino Earn GNAC All-Conference Honors

Patrick Dornfried (Berlin, Conn.) and Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) have been named to the 2013 GNAC All-Conference Third Team as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

For the second-straight year, Pellegrino earned All-Conference honors, while last season he was tagged to the Second Team.

As a sophomore, Pellegrino is batting .337 in 28 games played. He registered 29 hits, including five doubles and two triples.  He added 17 runs scored and 20 runs batted in.  He recorded a nine-game hitting streak during the year, the longest on the team, while he posted nine multiple-hit contests during the season.

Dornfried hit .299 in 28 games with 29 hits, 12 runs scored and 10 RBI.  He registered five doubles, one triple and four stolen bases at shortstop for the Falcons.

Freshman Mike Barillaro (Meriden, Conn.) was also recognized by the league as he was named to the 2013 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Suffolk's Mike Cunningham earned GNAC Player of the Year honors, while Johnson & Wales head coach John LaRose was tagged as the GNAC Coach of the Year. Saint Joseph's (Maine) Tyler Laverriere earned Pitcher of the Year honors, while JWU's Jake Marchesseault was named Rookie of the Year to round out the major GNAC accolades.
