The Albertus Magnus baseball team won a six-inning marathon battle against Purchase College on Tuesday night as the Falcons came away with an 18-13 non-conference victory. Led by three hits from both Steven Lockman (Wallingford, Conn.) and Arber Mehmedi (Naugatuck, Conn.), the Falcons improved to 6-7 on the year with the win.

Albertus' Jon Criscio (East Haven, Conn.) made the start for the Falcons but allowed 13 runs on 11 hits in 2.2 innings of work, including a seven-run first inning. Criscio walked four batters and struck out three on the night.

Tom Moore (East Haven, Conn.) came out of the bullpen for Albertus and threw a solid 3.1 innings of work as he shutout the Panthers, while allowing just two hits and walked batter.  Moore earned the win as he improved to 1-0 on the year.

Purchase threw five pitchers in the contest as Jacob Acee took the loss. He threw two innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits and three walked batters.  Robert Michael started on the hill for the Panthers as he went just 1.2 innings, giving up four runs on two hits.  Michael walked seven Falcons during his effort.

After Purchase took an early 7-0 lead after the first inning, the Falcons scored four runs in the top of the second. Tyler Robertson (Cheshire, Conn.) posted an RBI in the frame as did both Jordan Kubilus (Cheshire, Conn.) and Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.).

Purchase got one run back in the bottom half of the frame to take an 8-4 lead before Albertus posted a nine-run third inning thanks to a three-run home run from Roberto Santiago (Torrington, Conn.) and an RBI double from Lockman.

After Albertus took the 13-8 lead, Purchase scored five more runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 13.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Albertus posted five runs in the top of the fifth inning.  Lockman recorded his second double of the contest in the frame to score Santiago from second after Poirier singled home Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.) from second.

After 3.5 hours of play, the contest was called due to the poor weather conditions in the area.

Albertus returns to action on Thursday when they host Norwich University once again. The two home contests will be played at Purchase College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
