Baseball to play Suffolk in GNAC Tournament on Tuesday

The Albertus Magnus baseball team will play in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament beginning on Tuesday night when the Falcons head to Boston to take on third-seeded Suffolk University in a 7:30 p.m. contest.

The Falcons (10-19 overall) will make their 18th all-time appearance in the GNAC Tournament, including their fifth-straight.

The Falcons are 16-20 all-time in GNAC Tournament play and they are 0-6 against Suffolk in postseason action.

The Falcons have not won a GNAC Tournament game since 2009 and won the GNAC Championship title twice, in 1999 and 2003.

This season, the Falcons are led by Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.) who is batting .348 with 32 hits, nine doubles, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. He has also scored 20 times. Tyler Robertson (Cheshire, conn.) has also scored 20 times as he has added 28 hits and 14 RBI while batting .308.

Suffolk is 13-16 on the year and finished the regular season 9-5 in league play.
