Falcons Drop Heartbreaker to Emerson College 75-74

 

New Haven, CT- On Tuesday Night, The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball lost its first conference game of the season in heartbreaking fashion as they missed a shot at the buzzer to fall 75-74.   The Falcons trailed 35-30 going into the half, shooting 0-10 from beyond the arc.  The Falcon's three-point shooting woes continued midway into the second half.  Albertus trailed 68-56 with 6:10 remaining.  The Falcons went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 68-66 after the Falcons converted their only three-pointer of the day.  The Falcons took the lead when sophomore forward Ray Askew (Hamden, CT) swished two free throws with 44 seconds remaining to give the Falcons a 74-73 lead.  Senior forward Bryan Rouse (East Greenwich, RI) scored with 26 seconds remaining to give Emerson a 75-74 lead.  Albertus had a chance to win the game but sophomore guard Byron Reaves (Hamden, CT) missed off the front of the rim as the buzzer sounded.  The Falcons were lead by Askew's game high 26 points and 11 rebounds while Emerson College received strong play from seniors Bryan Rouse and Jeremy Shannon who scored 23 points and 18 points respectively  Albertus drops to 7-4, 3-1 GNAC on the season while Emerson College improves to 7-3, 2-2 GNAC.  The Falcons look to rebound against GNAC opponent Mount Ida College on Thursday night with a 7:00 PM tip-off.
