Northfield, VT - On Tuesday night, The Falcons extended their longest winning streak in over ten seasons to eight games with an 86-80 victory over host Norwich University. The first half featured seven ties and 13 lead changes with Norwich ending the half on a 9-2 run to tie the score at 45 going into half time. The Falcons trailed 62-52 with 12:15 to go in the game when freshman guard Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT) hit a pair of three pointers to pace a 13-3 run that tied the score at 65-65 with 9:07 remaining. Norwich took a 74-72 lead with 6:55 left when the Falcons went on a 6-0 run giving them the 78-74 lead with 4:06 left to play. Albertus would convert on 5-6 free throws down the stretch to secure the 86-80 victory. Albertus was led by sophomore forward Ray Askew (Hamden, CT) and his team high 21 points and game high 12 rebounds. Jackson chipped in 18 points including 3-4 from beyond the arc and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Norwich was led by senior forward Israel Guardado (El Centro, CA) and his game high 25 points and nine rebounds. The Falcons improve to 15-4, 11-1 GNAC while Norwich drops to 11-8, 6-6 GNAC. Albertus looks to make it ten wins in a row as they play host to GNAC opponent Emmanuel College on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
