Falcons Late Second Half Run Falls Just Short 80-77

Standish, ME - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball team saw their late second half surge fall short as host and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent St. Joseph's College (ME) won 80-77 on Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons used a late second half run to cut the lead to 72-71 with 3:36 remaining and ended the game on a 6-0 run but ran out of time in the second half.

Albertus trailed 36-28 at the half as the Falcons struggled to find an offensive rhythm.  The Falcons struggled from beyond the arc shooting just 2-9 in the first half and 5-21 on the night. 

The Falcons trailed for most of the contest but were never out of it as evidenced by the first second half run that cut the lead to 72-71 with 3:36 remaining.  Senior guard Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT/Bulkeley) had a team high 21 points while junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Career) added 19 points and a team high seven rebounds.

St. Joseph's College (ME) was led by junior guard Zach O'Brien (Schnenectady, NY/Bishop Gibbons) and his game high 25 points.

Albertus drops to 9-9, 7-4 GNAC while St. Joe's (ME) improves to 13-5, 10-1 GNAC.

The Falcons travel to Northfield, VT on Tuesday night to take on GNAC opponent Norwich University at 7:00 pm.
