Falcons Fly Past Western Connecticut State 107-88

Four Falcons scored in double figures as  the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team defeated Western Connecticut State University 107-88 in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

Senior Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.) led all scorers as he tallied 31 points and 10 rebounds in the Falcons' second-straight win. Askew shot 9-of-10 from the field and 13-of-19 from the free throw line as he recorded 30 or more points for the second-consecutive contest.

Albertus opened the game with an 18-2 run led by 12 points combined from Askew and sophomore Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.). Watson shot 5-of-8 from the field for 11 points in the first half and finished the night with 19 total points and seven rebounds.

Askew was 5-of-5 for 10 points in the first half as the Falcons scored 18 points off 13 Western Connecticut turnovers. The Falcons also shot 55.3% from the floor in the frame, while holding the Colonials to a 33.3% showing.

Junior Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) finished with 11 points for the Falcons, while Zach Dugas (Monroe, Conn.) added 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor. Dugas was also 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Western Connecticut was led by DaQuan Brooks who registered 26 points and five assists, while Ryan Pelletier, Ter'Qwan Perkins and Michael Kennedy added 10, 13 and 10 points respectively.

The Falcons led by as much as 24 points in the second half with 6:29 remaining in the contest. Watson hit a jumper for his second-consecutive bucket to extend the Falcons' advantage to 92-68.

For Askew, it was his second double-double of the season, while the Colonials of WestConn fall to 2-1 on the year. On the night, the Falcons shot 52.9%, a 36-of-68 clip from the floor.

The Falcons will return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday as they will host York (N.Y.) on Sunday, Nov. 27 in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference match-up. Following their third-straight home contest, the Falcons will head to Mitchell College to take on the Mariners at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
