Led by 31 points from Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.) the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team downed Trinity College by a score of 85-73 on Tuesday night in Hartford.

Askew shot 10-of-22 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line to lead the Falcons to the non-conference victory. Jefferson Lora (Bronx, N.Y.) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Albertus for his first double-double of the season.

Trinity came into tonight's contest on a six-game losing streak and extended that run to seven games with the non-conference loss. Albertus has now won 16-straight, while the Falcons improve to 21-1 on the season. Against non-league opponents on the road, the Falcons are now 3-0 on the year.

Tonight's win marks the first against Trinity in the past three seasons as the Falcons came into the game having lost the previous two meetings against the Bantams.

Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) contributed with 17 points on the night, while Zach Dugas (Monroe, Conn.) added nine points and eight rebounds for the Falcons.

Albertus shot 45.1-percent from the floor and finished the night 35-of-44 from the charity stripe.

After going into the halftime break with a 45-40 lead, the Falcons opened up the second half with an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 11.

Trinity was led by Eric Dean with 16 points, while Mick DiStasio connected for 14. Dean was 7-of-12 from the floor and added 10 rebounds. George Papadeas also recorded a double-double on the night with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

With 2,101 career points, Askew is now just 133 shy of the Albertus Magnus men's basketball record of 2,234 held by Tim Russell '05. The senior, who already holds the Albertus and GNAC record in total rebounds, used today's tally of eight to extend his career total to 1,109.

Albertus is now just two wins away from tying the program's single-season record of 23 wins, which was tallied in 2009-10.

The Falcons will play their next two games on the road as they head to Boston this weekend to face off with Lasell for the second time of the year. In their previous meeting, the Falcons defeated the Lasers 90-74 at home. Following that contest, the Falcons will head to Providence, R.I. to take on Johnson & Wales for the second time this season. On Jan. 16, Albertus downed the Wildcats 109-88 in league action.
