The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been ranked ninth in the Northeast according to this week's Division III Regional rankings.
The Falcons moved up one spot from last week's rankings as they held a 24-1 record heading into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night.
Amherst remains the top team in the region as they have a 23-2 overall record. Middlebury, MIT and Rhode Island College round out the top-four programs on the list.
Western Connecticut State dropped to the fifth spot with a 20-5 overall record. The Falcons cruised to a 107-88 non-conference victory over WCSU on Nov. 22 as that defeat was the Colonials only loss in their first 14 games of the 2011-12 season.
After Tuesday night's GNAC Tournament quarterfinal win, the Falcons are 25-1 on the year and will host Lasell in semifinal action on Thursday night. The Falcons defeated the Lasers in their two previous meetings this season but will face the Lasers in GNAC postseason play for the first time in program history.
