Three members of the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team have earned 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference honors as announced by the league office on Monday. Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.), Arshad Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) and Jefferson Lora (Bronx, N.Y.) earned spots on the All-Conference Teams.
Watson, who has led the Falcons this season with 23.1 points per game, was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team for the second-straight season. The junior netted 34 points in the Falcons' 87-80 win over Anna Maria in the GNAC Championship game as he was named the Tournament's MVP for his efforts. On the week, he averaged 27 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Watson was named GNAC Player of the Week three times this season as well as ECAC Player of the Week on Nov. 28. He also earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors once and was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll three times throughout the season.
Jackson, who scored his 1,000th point in the Falcons' final regular-season home game on Feb. 14, has been named to the GNAC All-Conference Second-Team. Jackson is averaging 12.2 points per game for the Falcons and leads his squad with 3.4 assists per game. Jackson scored a career-high 34 points on Feb. 14 to reach the 1,000th-point plateau as he became the 12th all-time Albertus men's basketball player to reach that milestone.
Lora, who was named to the GNAC All-Tournament team as both a junior and senior, rounds out the honored Falcons as he was named to this year's Third Team. Lora is averaging 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Falcons this season. He tallied 15 games with double-digit scoring, while he posted three games with 10+ rebounds.
In addition, senior Mike Sweeney (Milford, Conn.) was named to the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
