The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team cruised to an 87-60 victory over Newbury College on Thursday night in non-conference play.

The Falcons improved to 3-0 on the year with tonight's victory as they were led by Marc Wilson (Jersey City, N.J.) and Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) with 16 and 26 points, respectively.

Albertus opened the contest with a 15-0 run thanks to seven points by Wilson in his first career start.  Newbury's Earl Hassell scored his team's first bucket of the night 5:37 into the contest.  Watson answered those points with back-to-back three pointers and a lay-up to extend the Falcons' lead to 23-6 at the 10:31 mark of the half.

Junior Kyle Wiggins (Milford, Conn.) added to the Falcon lead with his own three-point field goal, giving the Falcons a 26-8 lead a minute later.

Wilson and Watson had 14 points apiece in the first half of play, while Wilson shot 3-of-5 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.  The Falcons hit 13 of their 16 attempts from the charity stripe in the opening frame.

Watson shot 5-of-9 from the floor in the first half as he hit four of his seven 3-point field goal attempts.

Both Wiggins and Marcus Walker (Newark, N.J.) came off the bench for the Falcons and put up some numbers.  Wiggins scored six points off the bench for the Falcons in the half, while Walker pulled down four rebounds.

Albertus went into the halftime break with a 45-31 lead. The Falcons also outrebounded the Night Hawks 26-19 in the first frame.

In the second half, Watson led the Falcons with 12 points as he finished the game with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor.  He also hit 6-of-10 from behind the arc.

Eian Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied 10 points and nine assists for the Falcons, while Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) added eight points, seven blocked shots, and six rebounds.

Albertus shot 53.3% in the second half, including a 5-of-9 showing from behind the arc for a 55.6-percentage.

Eric Watson led Newbury with 16 points and seven rebounds but the Night Hawks shot 29.8% on the night, hitting just 17 of their 57 shot attempts.  They also hit just five of their 19 three-point field goal attempts.

Albertus will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 1 at New Jersey City for a 2:00 p.m. road contest after the Thanksgiving holiday.
