Falcons Defeat Rivier 93-82 in Men's Basketball

The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team defeated Rivier University 93-82 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on the road on Thursday night in Nashua, N.H.

Albertus improves to 9-1 with the win and remains unbeaten in GNAC play at 4-0.

Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) led the Falcons with 22 points to lead six Albertus men's basketball players in double-figure scoring.  All five starters for the Falcons tallied double digits in points as Eian Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 13 points to go along with nine assists and nine rebounds.

Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) added 14 points and five rebounds, while James Jennings (Stratford, Conn.) tallied 10 points. Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded out the Falcon starters with double figures as he registered 10 points and pulled down five boards.

Off the bench, Kyle Wiggins (Milford, Conn.) added 14 points on 5-of-13 from the field and 4-of-11 from behind the arc.  Marcus Walker (Newark, N.J.) also came off the bench to tally eight points and seven rebounds.

The Falcons held a 44-34 lead going into the halftime break as they shot 50% from the field.  The game was much closer in the second half as the Falcons only outscored the Raiders 49-48 as Rivier shot 47.4%.

Rivier finished the game shooting 46.2% from the field, while the Falcons shot 47% with a 40.7% showing from three-point land. 

Watson's 22-point effort marked the seventh game this season in which he has scored 20 or more points.

Albertus will head to Boston on Saturday to take on Suffolk in a 3:00 p.m. league contest.
