Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) shot 8-of-8 from the floor for a game-high 23 points to lead the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team over Anna Maria College 96-80 on Tuesday night in both teams' Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener.

Larsen tallied his first double-double of the season as he added 14 rebounds, including 10 on the defensive end.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-1 on the year and extend their home court winning streak to 43 games, currently the longest in NCAA men's basketball (all divisions).  The loss gives the AMCATS an overall record of 2-4 on the year.

Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also registered a double-double, his third of the season, as he tallied 22 points and 13 rebounds.  He shot 10-of-18 from the floor and tallied an impressive seven blocks, tying his career-high in that category.

Senior Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) added 11 points, while Kyle Wiggins (Milford, Conn) tallied 16 points off the bench to round out the Falcons' double-figure scorers.  Wiggins shot 5-of-8 from the field, with a 3-of-5 clip from behind the arc, as the Falcons finished the contest shooting 51.4% (36-of-70).

Anna Maria was led by 15 points from Quantez Franklin and 10 points from both Corey Pryor and Youssef Fodaile.

Less than two minutes into tonight's contest, Anna Maria took a 6-5 lead after the two teams traded buckets to open the game.  The one-point lead was the AMCATS' lone advantage as the Falcons went on a 10-2 run to take a 15-8 lead.

The Falcons' shot 59.5% (22-of-37) from the field in the opening frame, which helped Albertus control the game's tempo.  Both Larsen and Ljuljdjuraj tallied 12 boards in the first 20 minutes of play to lead Albertus.

Despite the loss, Anna Maria out-rebounded the Falcons 52-42 on the night, while the AMCATS tallied 21 second-chance points.

Albertus returns to action on Thursday night when the Falcons host Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in a 7:00 p.m. contest in New Haven.
