Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) tallied his fifth double-double of the season as he registered 16 points and 13 rebounds. The junior added eight blocks in 38 minutes of work.
The Falcons pushed out to a nine-point lead with 4:11 left in the contest as Sledge knocked down a free throw. NJCU didn't go away quietly as the Gothic Knights hit 7-of-8 free throws in the final three minutes of play to chip away at the Albertus lead.
The Falcons took their largest lead of the day of 11 points with 1:48 to go in regulation on another Sledge basket. Sledge tallied 12 of his 20 points in the second half of play to lift the Falcons to victory.
The Gothic Knights out-rebounded the Falcons 46-38 in the contest and were led by Neville Joseph with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Joseph was one of five players on the visiting team to register double figures.
The Falcons finished out the contest shooting 49.1% (26-of-53), while NJCU shot 35.7% (30-of-84).
Albertus will host Western Connecticut State University on Monday night in a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest. The Gothic Knights, who fell to 2-6 with the loss, will face McDaniel College on Jan. 3 in a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
