#9 Falcons Down Newbury for 50th Straight Home Win

Led by 19 points from Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y., the #9 Albertus Magnus men's basketball team cruised to a 109-57 victory over Newbury College on Thursday night in non-conference action. The win improves the Falcons' home-court winning streak to 50 games, which is the longest current streak in NCAA men's basketball (all levels). 

With the victory, the Falcons improved to 16-1 on the year, while Newbury fell to 3-14. Tonight's win marked the second-straight against Newbury after a 27-point victory last season on the road over the Nighthawks.

Ljuljdjuraj added 14 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive end, for his 11th double-double of the year. He also registered nine blocks.

Tavon Sledge (Spring Valley, N.Y.) added 19 points, while Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) tallied 17 points and nine boards.

Eian Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed with his own double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.

Albertus opened the contest with a 7-0 run before Newbury battled back with an 8-2 run to cut the Albertus lead to one. The two teams traded baskets before the Falcons took control of the contest.

At the break, the Falcons held a 22-point advantage thanks to 11 points from three different Falcons.

In the second half of the contest, Newbury shot just 22% from the floor, while Albertus remained consistent as the Falcons finished the night shooting 46.2% from the field. Newbury shot just 3-of-21 from behind the arc for a 14.3% showing.

The 109 points marked the Falcons' 32nd all-time game with 100 or more points in program history, while it was the Falcons' sixth 100+ point game this season. 

Marcus Walker (Newark, N.J.) added 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Falcons.

Albertus will host Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday. Tip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The Falcons are 18-12 all-time against the Cadets, including a 10-6 clip when playing in New Haven.
