HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Albertus came out of the gate scoring seven straight points behind baskets from Washington, Malcolm Duncanson (West Haven, Conn.), and Dawkins to take the early lead, 7-0.
  • The Blazers retaliated with a quick 4-0 spurt to cut the deficit to three, 7-4, but Bonilla swooshed a three from beyond the arc to expand the AMC advantage to six, 10-4, just 2:31 into the contest.
  • Albertus and Elms exchanged baskets for the next three minutes of play before back-to-back threes from Bonilla gave the Falcons' a 10-point cushion with 14:44 left in the first frame and prompted Elms to use a timeout.
  • Out of the short break, the Falcons continued to run the floor, as Dawkins and Washington put together a 6-0 run of their own to increase the visitors' lead to 16, 24-8.
  • Trailing the Falcons 31-15, with 9:55 left in the first, Elms responded with a 5-2 spurt to make it a 33-20 contest, but Jeyson Slade (Stamford, Conn.) and Jacqual Gertrude (Jersey City, N.J.) found net for the Falcons to push the advantage back up to 15, 37-22.
  • Albertus controlled the next four minutes of play as a jumper from Robby Simmons (Hartford, Conn.) sparked an 8-5 run to extend the visitors' lead to 16, 40-24 lead.
  • Elms responded with a quick 3-2 run, but Bonilla popped his fourth trey of the half to give Albertus the 45-27 lead with 2:11 remaining in the frame.
  • The final two minutes saw Albertus and Elms play tight defense, allowing just one made basket each and the Falcons holding the 47-29 advantage at the half.
  • The teams came out of the break trading shots, as the squads matched each other point for point over the first four-and-a-half minutes of play and ran the score to 57-39.
  • Bonilla kept his offensive night going by hitting back-to-back threes just 33 seconds apart, extending his total to six, to give AMC the 63-41 lead.
  • From that point on, Albertus would keep the Blazers' offense at bay to earn its fifth straight victory following tonight's 87-68 conference win.
