BOX SCORE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a flash, the Falcons found themselves ahead 1-0 in the first period following a goal by Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) 14 seconds into tonight's game.
- Weitzman opened the contest's scoring with an impressive individual effort from behind the net, faking a defender before curling to the slot and finding the top-left corner.
- After a Knights' goal at 8:45 in the first, Albertus retook the lead on a strike from Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) at 16:38.
- Austin Cook (West Berlin, N.J.) started the scoring play from the blue line, firing a shot towards the crease that Manning tipped by the moving keeper for a goal.
- For the second straight period, the Falcons wasted no time scoring as Gagnon put the visitors ahead 3-1 at the 1:03 mark of the second.
- With the puck loose in front of the keeper after a saved shot, Gagnon took full advantage of the confusion by burying a slapshot from the right slot.
- Albertus added another goal to its ledger by the 4:38 mark of the second on a strike by Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Wash.).
- The Falcons capitalized on a defensive play after Coleton Cianci (Kirkland, Quebec) poked the puck away before finding Stephen Kyrkostas (Long Island, N.Y.). Kyrkostas found Pattison at the net where he flipped a backhand by the sliding keeper.
- Unfortunately for AMC, the Knights caught fire to end the period, scoring twice over the final 3:05 to cut the Falcons' lead to one, 4-3.
- For the third consecutive period, the Falcons scored the frame's opening goal.
- On a power play, Weitzman found paydirt for the second time at the 2:41 mark of the third on assists from Gagnon and Cook to put AMC ahead 5-3.
- Just as they had done all night, the Knights answered, cutting their deficit back to one, 5-4, after a power-play goal by Yancy Whitaker at 6:58.
- The Falcons settled the contest by scoring the next two goals, one being a power-play strike from Manning and the other being a Gagnon empty-netter. With the two goals, Albertus left Pennsylvania with an exciting 7-4 road win over the Knights.
- Between the pipes, senior Joseph Giacobbo (Deptford, N.J.) earned his first career win by making 19 saves.
