HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Albertus scored twice just eight seconds apart in the first period, getting on the board on a goal from Tremblay at the 13:02 mark. On the goal, Kirwin picked up a ground ball, ran behind the net and found Tremblay who was in front of the net to make it a 1-0 game. On the ensuing possession, the Falcons won the faceoff and raced down the field. Strecker then faked a shot and found a cutting Kirwin who made it a 2-0 game at the 12:54 mark.
  • Shane Kelly (Madison, Conn.) put the Falcons up 3-0 off another Strecker assist and Kirwin scored his second of the game at the 7:22 mark, taking a pass from Tremblay and making a 180 turn and putting the ball past Dylan Kinsella for the four goal lead..
  • Mitchell got on the board 40 seconds later, but it took just 30 seconds for the Falcons to answer as Strecker scored his first goal of the game, followed by Kirwin's third of the game at the 2:41 mark. Price scored his first goal of the game as Strecker found him wide open in front of the net for an easy score, making it a 7-1 game.
  • The Albertus offense was held in check in the second period, as it was held scoreless while the Mariners scored twice - including a second from Keeano Gonzalez - and the Falcons held a 7-3 lead at the half.
  • The Falcons were called for a penalty with 24 seconds left in the first half and Mitchell took advantage, scoring just eight seconds into the third period to make it a 7-4 game. The Albertus offense once again took control of the game as Tremblay scored his second of the game with the Falcons a man down. It was one of two goals in the period for Tremblay. Price added his second and Kirwin his fourth as the Falcons took an 11-5 lead into the final period.
  • The Falcons put the game away less than five minutes into the final period, scoring the first four goals in a 3:30 span. Tremblay, Kirwin, Kelly and Price all added to their goal tally to put Albertus up, 15-5 with 10:13 left. Mitchell would score the next two goals, but Tremblay would put the finishing touch on the scoring for the Falcons with his fifth of the game in a man-up situation.
