Bernardo Earns GNAC Coach of Year; Hamasian Top Defensive Player

New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer team added a few more post-season awards following it's 15-6-1 record breaking season.  In addition to their six All-Conference awards, Head Coach Jim Bernardo and sophomore defender Nick Hamasian (Hamden, CT/Hamden) garner Coach and Defensive Player of the Year awards respectively.

Head Men's Soccer Coach Jim Bernardo was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year.  The Falcons finished the regular season with a program record 13 wins while advancing to and hosting the GNAC Finals.  The record breaking season concluded with a trip to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) quarterfinals appearance.  In his sixth season, Bernardo has been responsible for a resurgence in the Men's Soccer program.  The former Albertus Magnus four-year starter and All-Conference goal keeper in his own right, the Falcons defense ranked first in nearly every category this season. 

Sophomore defender Nick Hamasian (Hamden, CT/Hamden) was named named the GNAC's top defensive player after a strong season playing in the back for the Falcons.  Hamasian led a strong Falcons' defense that had nine shutouts during the season while contributing three goals of his own during the season.  The Falcons were ranked first in nearly every defensive category this season.
