Falcons Win Fifth Straight with 2-0 Victory Over JWU

Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.) tallied two goals as the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team defeated Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon for its fifth-straight victory.

The GNAC win improves the Falcons' record to 6-2 on the year and 3-0 in conference play. The Wildcats fall to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC.

Howard, who leads the Falcons with seven goals and 15 points on the year, scored the game winner in the 16th minute as he went one-on-one into the box and beat the keeper, giving Albertus an early 1-0 advantage. The senior added his second goal of the contest in the 74th minute to secure the GNAC victory.

Howard finished the night with nine shots, including five on goal.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) faced one shot on the afternoon and made the save as the Falcons outshot the Wildcats 17-3.

Ryan Dwierawski allowed two goals and made five saves for the Wildcats in the loss.

Albertus will host Rivier on Tuesday, Sept. 27 in a GNAC match-up. The mid-week contest is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
