Senior Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal in the 41st minute to lift the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. The win marks the Falcons' 10th of the season as they remain unbeaten in their last 10 contests.

Zapata, who leads the Falcons with 23 points in 2012 on eight goals and seven assists, lofted in a shot into the top corner of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead before the halftime break. His goal proved to be the game winner as the Falcons improved to 6-0-1 in GNAC play. The Falcons are now 18-0-1 in their last 19 regular-season league contests dating back to 2010.

For Zapata, it was the second-straight game in which he netted the game winner.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) stopped all seven shots he faced in net for the Falcons to improve his tally on the year to 55. For the junior, it was also his sixth shutout of the season.

Johnson & Wales' Ryan Dzierawski recorded two saves for the Wildcats in their fifth loss of the season.

Zapata led the Falcons with four shots.

Albertus returns to action on Monday afternoon as the Falcons host Suffolk in GNAC play. The Columbus Day contest is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.
