Despite outshooting the Lasers 15-12 on the afternoon, the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team fell to Lasell College 2-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday.

With the loss, the Falcons move to 11-3-2 and have now lost two in a row for the first time since falling in postseason play in 2010 to Suffolk (GNAC Championship) and Brandeis (ECAC Quarterfinals). The loss also breaks a 20-game unbeaten streak as the Falcons entered today's contest with a 19-0-1 record in GNAC regular-season games dating back to 2010 as well.

The Lasers improve to 13-1 on the year with the victory and move to a perfect 8-0 in GNAC play.

Conor Fitzgerald netted the first goal of the contest in the 13th minute to lead the Lasers into intermission with a 1-0 advantage.

Kyle Cronin scored the eventual game winner as he got a shot passed the Falcons' Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) in net. Mike Skelton assisted on both goals to finish the game with two helpers.

Freshman Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) scored the Falcons' lone goal with time expiring in regulation as he finished on a pass from Jesse Plona to cut the Lasers' lead to one. It was his sixth goal of the season.

Piroscafo finished the game with three saves in 90 minutes of work, while the Lasers' Miguel Colmenares tallied eight stops in the victory.

The Falcons outshot the Lasers 10-6 in the opening half and finished the afternoon with a 15-12 advantage. Lasell recorded six corners to the Falcons' two.

Albertus will return home on Thursday, Oct. 18 to host Newbury in non-conference action. That match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Celentano Field.
