Brothers Stephen and Alex Zapata of the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team have earned major Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors as announced by the league office on Monday. Stephen has been named the GNAC's Player of the Week, while his younger brother Alex was tagged as Rookie of the Week.

Stephen tallied a career-high six points in the Falcons 8-1 rout of Newbury on Thursday, Oct. 18 as he scored two goals and added two assists. On the week, he scored three goals and tallied three assists for the Falcons. He was 2-for-2 in penalty kicks and scored two game-winning goals to lift the Falcons to victory. Albertus finished the regular season with two wins on the week, including a 3-1 victory over Emmanuel College.

Stephen leads the Falcons with 12 goals and 12 assists on the year.

Alex scored two goals and had an assist for five points in the Falcons' win over Newbury College as well. It was also a career-high for the rookie as he and older brother Stephen combined for four goals and two assists in the contest.

Albertus finished the regular season with an 8-1-1 record in GNAC play and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament, which is scheduled to begin Saturday. On Saturday, the Falcons will host No. 7 Suffolk in GNAC Tournament quarterfinal action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
