Led by multiple-point efforts by three different players, the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team downed Newbury College 5-1 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.  Freshman Alexis Garcia (West Haven, Conn.) scored two goals, while Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.) added three assists in the contest.  Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) tallied one goal and one assist in the Falcons' win as well.

Albertus picks up its first victory over 2013 with the five-goal outing as the Falcons improve to 1-2 on the year.  Today's win also marks the second-straight victory over the Nighthawks as the Falcons dominated their 2012 match-up 8-1.

Garcia scored the first goal of the contest in the 12th minute as he received a pass from Suleski and beat Newbury defender Agostinho Lam in the box.

The rookie's goal proved to be the lone goal of the opening half as the Falcons went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.  The Falcons outshot Newbury 14-6 in the first frame.

In the 54th minute of the contest Barrett drilled a shot past Newbury goalkeeper Cody Nash-Gibney to give Albertus a 2-0 lead. Garcia struck again in the 61st minute of play as Suleski assisted on the goal once again.

In the 73rd minute, Erik Tomin (Hamden, Conn.) scored his first career goal as he found the back of the net on a header.  Both Suleski and Barrett assisted on the play.

Albertus scored its fifth goal of the game in the 79th minute when Michael Ingeno (Meriden, Conn.) scored his first career goal after receiving a pass from teammate Patrick Kenefick (Woodbridge, Conn.).

Newbury (0-3) scored its lone goal of the contest when Bryan Barrios netted a shot from just outside the 18-yard box in the 81st minute.

Albertus' Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) made four saves in net as the Falcons outshot the Nighthawks 27-12 on the afternoon.

The Falcons return to action on Monday, Sept. 9 when they play host to Regis College (Mass.) in a 4:00 p.m. non-conference match-up.
