The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team defeated Western Connecticut State University 2-0 in a non-conference match at The Westside Athletic Complex on Wednesday night.

The Falcons got on the scoreboard early on with a goal in the ninth minute when Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season.  His shot from 30 yards out followed a pass from freshman Alexis Garcia (West Haven, Conn.).

With 15 minutes remaining in the first half, Garcia knotched his team-leading fourth goal of the season when he collected a deflection off Erik Tomin's (Hamden, Conn.) shot attempt in the middle of the box.

Western Connecticut fell to 2-7-1 on the year with the loss and remain winless in their last seven games.  The Falcons' win breaks a five-game losing streak as they improve to 2-7 on the year.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) made six saves on the night for the Falcons, while the Colonials' Bobby Strevel tallied two for the home team.

Albertus will host Rivier University on Saturday, Oct. 5 in a 3:15 p.m. league match-up.
