The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team fell to Emmanuel College 1-0 on Saturday as freshman defender Zach Foley scored his first career goal. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 5-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, while the Saints improve to 9-10 and 5-4 in league action.
After 60 scoreless minutes of play, the Saints scored the eventual game-winning goal as Foley cut at the top of the 18-yard box and one-timed a shot into the top of the net.
The Falcons had two good looks during the final three minutes of play but were unable to score. Tyler Peloquin (Beacon Falls, Conn.) drilled a shot from 30-yards out but his shot hit off the cross bar. Less than two minutes later, Peloquin ripped another shot at net but Emmanuel's goalkeeper Garrett Charette picked up the save.
The Falcons outshot the Saints 14-7 on the afternoon, including an 11-2 clip in the second half.
Charette made seven saves for the Saints, while Falcons' senior goalkeeper Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) tallied three saves.
The Falcons finish the regular season as the No. 7 seed of the GNAC Tournament, while Emmanuel will be the sixth seed. The Falcons will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 3 in tournament action.
