Freshman Alexis Garcia (West Haven, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team has been named the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Garcia led the Falcons with 15 points on the year on six goals and three assists.  He was a key factor in the Falcons' six victories.  He scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Anna Maria College on Oct. 19 and scored a goal as well as assisted on the game winner in a 2-0 win at Western Connecticut State University on Oct. 2.

He was in the top-eight of the league in goals and points in 2013 and was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week on Sept. 10, Oct. 8, and Oct. 22.

For the third-straight year, the Falcons took home the GNAC Rookie of the Year accolade as Alex Zapata won the honor in 2012 and Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.) earned the honor in 2011.

Overall, it is the program's sixth all-time Rookie of the Year selection.
