NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team was picked to finish in sixth place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the conference's preseason poll was released on Tuesday.
Albertus received 149 voting points, behind Emmanuel College, who was fifth and New England College, who was picked seventh.
Johnson and Wales - last season's runner-up - was picked to win the conference, receiving 205 voting points, including six first place votes. Saint Joseph's (Maine), last season's regular season champions, was picked second receiving 197 voting points and three first-place votes. Defending GNAC tournament champions, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) received 192 points and four first-place votes and Norwich University was picked fourth, earning one first-place vote and 180 total voting points.
Last season, the Falcons finished 8-6-4 overall and 6-3-3 in the conference for a fifth place finish, bowing out in the quarterfinals to eventual champion, USJ.
The Falcons open up their season on Friday, September 1 in a non-conference game at Springfield at 6 p.m.
