NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following a 2-0 week by the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer program, Kelvin Cortez (Meriden, Conn.) was named Great Northeast Player of the Week while David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll

In the opening game of the week against Westfield State on September 27, Cortez spearheaded the Falcons offense that scored a season-high four goals with a pair of assists and a shot on goal. Cortez followed up his performance scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Regis (Mass.) in a GNAC match on September 30. Cortez also tallied his third game-winning goal of the season in the match, while taking a season-high five shots.

Lucero picked up a pair of complete-game victories this week, including his third shutout of the season and recorded a 0.50 goals-against average for the week. In the opening game over Westfield State, Lucero blanked the Owls with a pair of saves to give Albertus their fifth win of the season. He followed that up with a complete-game conference victory over Regis (Mass.) in which he made three saves and permitted only a single goal.
