Falcons Sweep Lesley 9-0

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team won its second-straight match with a 9-0 decision over Lesley on Wednesday night.  The Falcons' opened the night with a 3-0 sweep of the doubles' matches before cruising to their 9-0 victory with six-straight singles' wins.

Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) and Jeff Pellegrino (Meriden, Conn.) topped Lesley's Nike Marcolini and Billy Baker in No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-3 before Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.) and Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) earned an 8-2 win in the second spot.

Sophomore Dan Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) and junior Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) finished the doubles' sweep with an 8-4 win in the No. 3 spot.
Zacharias won No. 1 singles as he shutout Marcolini with a pair of 6-0 sets.  Suleski earned a 7-5 opening set win of No. 2 doubles before his opponent retired from the match with an injury.
Pellegrino also cruised to victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Baker in No. 3 singles, while Mezzei took home a victory in No. 4 singles, downing his opponent with a pair of 6-2 sets.
Elvis Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) earned a victory in No. 6 singles, while Constantinidi did the same in the No. 5 spot.
Albertus will host Norwich on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
