Men's Tennis Falls In Heartbreaker To WCSU

DANBURY, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team lost a close 5-4 match to Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) on Friday afternoon in a non-conference match.

It was the second time this week the two teams have met with WCSU.

The two teams split the singles matches as Eric Chamandy (Montreal, Quebec) won in two sets in No. 3, 6-0, 6-1 over Nathaniel Mariduena. In singles no. 4, Spencer Silver (North Wales, Pa.) took down Nicholas Peschier, 6-4, 6-4.

Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Wash.) topped Drew Scanlon in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1. All of the singles matches went two sets.

In doubles, the no. 2 team of Shamandy and Silver won, 8-5. Albertus lost doubles no. 1, 8-1 but had a chance at doubles no. 3, leading 3-0 early, but Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta) and Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) fell, 8-5 to Marudyena and Peschier.

Up next, the Falcons will host UMass-Boston at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
