Falcons End Season with 18-4 Win Over New Rochelle

Bronxville, NY - The Albertus Magnus College Softball team finished the 2011 season in exciting fashion winning 18-4 over New Rochelle earning a third place finish in the HVWAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons used a nine run first inning to overtake New Rochelle and win thier first game of the 2011 season.  The victory marks the end of an 85 game losing streak that spanned 1,014 days between wins for the program.  The future is bright the for the Albertus Magnus College Softball program as first year coach Ed Emelita has made huge strides securing the program's best recruiting class in recent memory for next season.

Albertus lost the previous game to HVWAC Tournament Champion St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) 13-1 after securing just three hits on the afternoon.

The Falcons' offense exploded for 18 runs on 16 hits scoring every inning.  Freshman pitcher Melissa Manning (Milford, CT/Foran) went the distance for the complete game victory allowing four earned runs while striking our six and walking none.

Albertus ends the season with a 1-31, 0-24 GNAC record while returning their entire lineup for next season.  The future is very bright for the Falcons and with the strongest recruiting class in recent memory, Albertus Magnus College softball is ready to soar next season!
