MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team lost a pair of non-conference games and dropped to 2-2 on the season as the Falcons fell to Muhlenberg College, 3-2, and SUNY Cortland, 8-0, in six innings on Monday afternoon as part of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 1

  • Muhlenberg kicked things off in the top of the second as the Mules scored three runs on two hits and two Falcon errors to take the early lead, 3-0.
  • Albertus rallied in the bottom half of the inning by putting runners on first and second with one out, but back-to-back strikeouts stranded the runners and sent the teams into the third.
  • Solid pitching from Amanda Savinelli (New Haven, Conn.) forced the Mules to go down 1-2-3 in the top of the third, which ignited the Falcons' offensive unit as the blue-and-white put two runners on with two outs, but a groundout to short left them stranded on the corners.
  • The Falcons' first run of the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning courtesy of a wild pitch from Muhlenberg's Raya Kunes.
  • Albertus started off the inning with back-to-back singles from Angelina Ramada (North Branford, Conn.) and Emilee Bishop (East Haven, Conn.) before the Falcons loaded the bases with one out. From there, the Falcons capitalized on a wild pitch that allowed the runners to advance; however, a strikeout and groundout ended the threat and inning.
  • After a quiet fifth inning, Karissa Kerrs (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) brought the Falcons to within one, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth, after allowing Bishop to score from second on an RBI single to the outfield. The Falcons' six-inning rally came to a close following back-to-back outs.
  • Despite two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Albertus managed to capitalize on an error by the pitch that allowed Peyton Davis (North Haven, Conn.), the tying run, to reach first until a groundout to third ended the game.
