KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 1

  • Stevenson jumped out to the early 1-0 lead as an RBI double from Megan Hamp allowed the runner to score from third.
  • The Falcons evened the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the second inning when Breanna Saldivar (Middletown, Conn.) drove in Anna Leone (Shelton, Conn.), who led off the inning with a double before finding herself on third following a passed ball.
  • The Mustangs retaliated with two runs in the top of the fourth when Jillian Haines doubled to send in two runners, 3-1.
  • The bottom of the fourth saw the Falcons come alive when they scored five runs on five hits and a Mustang error to double their lead, 6-3.
  • With one out and runners on second and third, Saldivar kicked things off with an RBI single to send Leone to third and Angelina Ramada (North Branford, Conn.) home. An error by the catcher allowed Leone to score and put runners on the corners to set up Karissa Kerrs (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) , who cleared the bases before advancing home on an RBI double from Skylar Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.)
  • The bottom of the sixth saw the Falcons score an additional three runs on a pair of RBI singles from Kerrs and Fatima Rosales (East Elmhurst, N.Y.) and a Mustang error, making the score 9-3.
  • The Mustangs attempted a late comeback in the last inning, scoring four runs against the Falcons' defensive unit, but a fly out to center field ended the rally and left the tying run first.
