KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 2

  • Worcester State jumped out to an early three-run lead, 3-0, in the top of the first, scoring its first three runs of the day on an RBI single, a fielder's choice, and an RBI double.
  • Albertus was unable to counter the Lancers' three runs in the home half of the inning, despite a leadoff single from Breanna Saldivar.
  • The Lancers increased their lead to four, 4-0, as an RBI single from Bella Gasbarro allowed Rachel Sinclair to score from third after she led off the inning, reaching first on an error by the Falcons' first baseman.
  • Albertus' offense came alive in the bottom of the third to slice the Lancers' lead in half, 4-2. With one out, back-to-back errors by the Lancers set the scene for Janelle Franklin (Middletown, Conn.), who drove in Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.) on a groundout to second and advanced Breanna Saldivar (Middletown, Conn.) to third. Angelina Ramada (North Branford, Conn.) kept things going with a single to allow Saldivar to score but a groundout to third, stranding Ramada on base.
  • After a quiet fourth inning, the Lancers tallied three runs in the top of the fifth behind a two-run RBI single from Naraylee Baez, increasing the lead to four, 6-3.
  • Albertus scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to decrease the Lancers' advantage to three, 7-4. Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) singled with runners on first and second and a new pitcher in the circle, advancing Anna Leone (Shelton, Conn.) to third and driving in Ramada, earning the RBI. From there, Leone found the plate on a sacrifice fly from Ema Signore (Guilford, Conn.).
  • The Lancers recorded the last tally of the game in the top of the seventh to bring the final score to 8-4.
