  • Dean threatened the Falcons in the top of the fourth by putting runners on first and second with two outs, but a hard-hit line out to Ema Signore (Guilford, Conn.) ended the inning and sent the teams to their designated dugouts.
  • After two scoreless innings, Albertus came alive again in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring an additional six runs behind a two-run RBI single from Franklin and a grand slam from Leone to take a commanding 16-0 lead heading into the top of the fifth.
  • Graduate pitcher Erin Dighello (Wallingford, Conn.) started in the circle for the Falcons and shut the Bulldogs down. Over three scoreless innings of work, Dighello permitted only two hits while fanning four.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 2

  • Following a silent first inning, Albertus put the first tally on the board in the bottom of the second inning.
  • Davis kicked off the inning with a double down the left-field line before Audi worked a walk. A sacrifice bunt from Molkenthin advanced the runners to second and third. A groundout from Edwards scored Davis, but the Falcons were stonewalled from there, as Bulldog's hurler Jessica Stewart slammed the door on the rally with an inning-ending flyout.
  • Dean countered the Falcons' lone run with a pair of runs in the top of the third to take its first lead of the day, 2-1.
  • Despite trailing heading into the bottom of the third inning, Albertus continued to swing the bat, scoring three runs on four hits to take the 4-2 advantage. Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) led off the frame with a hard single into left field before promptly swiping second base.
  • A one-out single from Ramada put runners on the corners for Emilee Bishop (East Haven, Conn.), who quickly drove a base hit the other way down the right-field line to score Smith. With runners on second and third and two outs, Audi kept the Falcons' offensive momentum going, launching a two-RBI double to the wall in center field and boosting the Falcons' advantage to 4-2.
  • Bishop shut the Bulldogs down in the top of the fourth, hurling a 1-2-3 inning that included a strikeout and a pair of pop-outs and sending Albertus' offensive unit back to work.
  • Edwards got the party started in the bottom of the fourth with a sharp single back up the middle. A steal of second from Edwards preceded a walk to Geloso, and the Falcons had runners on first and second with no outs.
  • A bunt single from Amanda Savinelli (New Haven, Conn.) proved too much to handle for the Bulldogs' defense, as a throwing error scored Edwards and sent Geloso to third. With runners on second and third and only one out, Ramda grounded out to the pitcher, but Geloso flew up the line to score the Falcons' sixth run of the game.
  • The pitchers held the offenses in check in the fifth inning, as neither team was able to generate offensive momentum, and the teams moved into the sixth frame, with AMC still holding the 6-2 advantage.
  • Ema Signore (Guilford, Conn.) relieved Bishop in the top of the sixth and hurled a 1-2-3 frame.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Edwards led off with an infield single before Geloso sent her home with a RBI double to the left-field wall. A wild pitch put Geloso on third before Savinelli drove a double into the right-centerfield gap to score Geloso and give the Falcons the 8-2 lead.
  • Signore shut the Bulldogs down in the top of the seventh with a 1-2-3 inning to seal the conference win for the Falcons.
