KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 1

  • The Falcons burst out of the gate with the early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. After a base hit by Angelina Ramada (North Branford, Conn.), Peyton Davis (North Haven , Conn.) doubled down the left field line to put runners in scoring position on second and third base. During the next at-bat, Anna Leone (Shelton, Conn.) capitalized on the scenario with a double to left field for two RBI.
  • The Lasell offense halved the score in the top of the second inning with an unearned run, 2-1. Mackenzie Still singled up the middle, then advanced to second on a catcher's error. Eryn Sheeley utilized the opportunity to single down the right side to send Still in to score.
  • Albertus tallied its third run in the second inning when Karissa Kerrs (Wappinger's Falls, N.Y.) set the scene with a single through the left side. During the following at-bat, Breanna Saldivar (Middletown, Conn.) sacrificed a bunt to allow Kerrs to push to third base. A failed double-play attempt from the Lasers due to an error from the second baseman gave Kerrs the time to round home plate for an unearned run.
  • The Albertus defense was able to navigate through a dangerous situation in the top of the fifth with a double play from Fatima Rosales (East Elmhurts, N.Y.) at shortstop to Erin Molkenthin (East Haddam, Conn.) at first base. The Lasers proceeded to load the bases, but the Falcons effectively ended the inning with a groundout to third baseman Kerrs.
  • The Lasers tied the score at three-all in the top of the sixth. With a runner on first base, Stephenson homered to left field for two RBI to tie the game.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Saldivar led-off the inning for the Falcons with a double to left field. Franklin followed with a walk-off single to give Albertus the win, 4-3.
